About

My family (I'm in the right hand corner)

Although I did not marry until my mid-30′s, I’m now a mom of five kids, two of whom are adopted from China.  I’ve worked as an elementary school teacher and lecturer in English at a University.  I’ve written a few freelance articles and published a few academic articles.  My (unfinished) dissertation is about abolitionist periodicals and novels.   I love to cook, sew, paint, take photos, and read Victorian novels.  After ten years as a traditional scrapper, I’ve turned to digital scrapbooking  and video editing over the past year.  I still have lots to learn, but I hope to be able to create some digital freebies to offer on my site.  I am married to a wonderful husband who is a scientist.  Four years ago, I quit my work at the University to care for my husband’s parents, who have Alzheimer’s.  His father passed away last June.  His mother lives in a nursing home near us.  Together, my husband and I  work to raise our kids and to try to glorify God in our daily lives.

Thanks for visiting my site.  I’d love for you to leave a comment.

I love this sight Virginia! Thank-you for sharing in this venue. We enjoyed the pictures, especially Maggie’s art in the girl’s room. So bright and cherry! I think a mural on the wall fits right into the catagory of “encouraging creative play” in our children.
    Love, Jeanie
